Yashwantrao Chavan National Award 

A word about Yashwantrao Chavan Pratishthan, Mumbai:

Yashwantrao Chavan Pratishthan, Mumbai, has been formed to perpetuate the memory of the

 Shri. Yashwantrao Chavan who made an outstanding and invaluable contribution both to the democratic socialist thought and process in India and to the enrichment of its socio-economic political life, through measures which would result in the alleviation of the common man’s plight.


For the attainment of the aforesaid main objective, the Pratishthan organises and undertakes the following activities:


1. Programmes to promote interests of common man.
2. Research seminars, Group Discussions, Training Programmes in all fields of socio economic, politicocultural life of the Society.
3. A National Library.
4. Promotion and propagation of Yashwantrao Chavan’s thoughts, ideas and values.
5. Publication of books, magazines, papers etc. to propagate the strong bias of Yashwantrao Chavan, for healthy democratic processes for modern and strong India.
6. Setting up of Centres for social change and implement ideas/programmes enunciated by Yashwantrao Chavan.
7. Promote and encourage the cause of formal and non-formal education, music, literature, culture and communal harmony.
8. Institute the National and the State level Awards to be granted to individuals and to institutions for their outstanding contribution to national integration, international understanding, democratic decentralisation, communal harmony, rural development and to the cause of the alleviation of the common man’s plight.

Yashwantrao Chavan Pratishthan, Mumbai, is an open platform for citizens from all walks of life, who are willing to contribute their mite to promote the basic values of social order based on freedom and social justice, which was Yashwantraoji’s vision and for the establishment of which he had dedicated his life.

 

Section II : Nature of Award

1. Yashwantrao Chavan Pratishthan, Mumbai has decided to grant a National Award for outstanding contribution made by any individual or Institution to     strengthen:

     a.    National Integration

     b.     Democratic Values, or

     c.      Social and Economic Development in India

2. There shall be one Award each year. However, the Pratishthan has  discretion not to give Award for any year.

3. It shall carry an amount of Rupees 2 Lakhs in cash and a citation.

4. Joint Award: The Award may be granted jointly, the amount being divided among more than one awardee, if the Panel of Jury consider them to be equally deserving.

5. Posthumous Award may also be considered.

6. Award will not be given to the same awardee for the same subject more than once. However, after five years he would be eligible for an Award in another subject.
